WattAnyWhere has completed key internal safety validation steps for its 22kW ethanol-based energy system, enabling the transition from lab testing to its final certification phase in a containerized setup, in preparation for field deployment.
Safety certification has been the core focus of our engineering team this summer, with rigorous in-lab testing already completed – and container-based testing now underway through August as part of the final certification process ahead of anticipated field deployment. Our innovative solution, powered by renewable ethanol and advanced fuel cell technology, presents unique safety considerations, requiring full compliance with a range of directives and norms at both the component and system levels. Our design integrates these requirements holistically, with safety built in from the ground up.
To ensure credibility and independence, we have partnered from the outset with Kiwa, one of the world’s most respected certification authorities. Kiwa has supported us throughout the design process to ensure safety, scalability, and compliance are embedded at every stage. This September, they will review and validate the results of our full certification testing campaign, including the container-based evaluations being conducted throughout August. In preparation, we delivered product samples to Kiwa following the completion of internal pre-certification testing.
“Navigating complex certification requirements across multiple components and standards is no small task,” said Olivier de Bruijn, CTO of WattAnyWhere. “I’m proud of how our team, in close collaboration with Kiwa, has built safety into the system from the very beginning and is now demonstrating it through real-world testing. I’m excited to see it come to life in its compact, containerized form.”
Once this next validation step is confirmed, we will head to France for a high-visibility demonstration event at Shell’s Aire de Val Neuvy service station, where the genset will be showcased in real-world conditions.
Thanks to the extensive testing already completed and the ongoing certification efforts, the system is on track for the field trial phase. While full CE marking will follow later in the development cycle, we are very close to official field trial safety approval from Kiwa.
From lab to field, our focus has always been on building a safe, reliable, and compliant solution. This achievement reinforces that commitment and sets the stage for broader deployment.
Stay tuned as we enter the next chapter with confidence, a strong partner in Kiwa, and a growing momentum toward sustainable, off-grid energy solutions.
